Not only do you not post much, but it's also clear you don't read journals very much because I am "rude" in all journals where people don't post. I've never met you so I can't just assume that you're ZC when you are gone for a long period of time. In fact, I don't always say anything to inactive members. Most of the time, I just delete the person and that's the end of it. So, give that some thought before you decide to lash out like that next time. I don't know how you can say that "another lurker I'm afraid" is rude? What planet are you from? I've earned the right to question anyone about anything on this forum, wouldn't you say? If you have no ZC experience to share, then be a guest. We have many guests that do ZC and are quite successful despite not posting and participating. It's not the end of the world. Charles, I don't want to speak for LauraUK, just for myself as a concerned ZIOH member with warm feelings for a fellow ZCer. I took the liberty of looking at her posting history, and until last week, she was a fairly regular poster. I didn't go all the way back to October, but it looks like she posted here several times a day for the last several weeks. If there's a policy that we need to post a specific number of times per week unless we click "I'm Away" on our profiles, then I need to know that, too. My schedule is sometimes hectic and unpredictable, and I've been away a few times for several days in a row. ![]() (01-18-2010 05:36 PM)Charles Wrote: I've earned the right to question anyone about anything on this forum, wouldn't you say? Again, not trying to be contentious, but if you read the exact words you wrote above, are you sure this is what you want to say? Maybe I'm being over-sensitive, but it sure seems like that could be taken out of context. Just my .02. |

I didn't go all the way back to October, but it looks like she posted here several times a day for the last several weeks. That's why I made the original comments. She was very regular and then just disappeared. Most people around her tell someone when they're going to be offline for a while. By the time Laura made the post that my comment was a response to, She hadn't posted since December 27. So January 16th would make some three weeks. I didn't say I would delete her or anything I merely commented that perhaps she was becoming a bit of a lurker -- meaning, that she had been online during that three week period but did not post. When people go for a month or two with no activity, then we begin to inquire. From there, it all depends on who knows you, how long you've been here, how regular, etc. The final decision would rest with me, however. It's quite a different matter if you say you're going to be away and people know what's up with you. It's just when you fade away and no one knows what has become of you, that's when we get concerned. And even though you get deactivated or whatever, there is nothing stopping anyone from reapplying when they get more time as has happened for several people. It's always easy to take something out of context, but fortunately for me, the record in this thread is clear. I made a rather innocuous comments wondering if she had become a lurker since no one has heard from her, and she decides to accuse me of being rude. I hardly thought that comment was rude. That's the context. If you go from being active to inactive, someone is going to wonder about you. Don't take it personal. If you can't participate for a while, let someone know. The reason is irrelevant. (meaning you don't have to disclose your reasons) Regards, Charles Me and C-3PO "I have a bad feeling about this."
